How Mike helped Darren, 19
I first met Darren when he came to a workshop on drugs and
alcohol at Colchester Children's Support Services. After
chatting a bit I realised he could do with some more information on
cannabis. So I persuaded him to come along to three sessions on
cannabis, where we discussed his use and what he could do in his
spare time instead.
Football course
I found out that he liked football and keeping fit, so I invited
him to our gym group on Friday evenings. Then, when Chelsea
Football Club asked EYPDAS if we knew anyone who wanted to take
part in a coaching course, we immediately thought of Darren.
Moving forward
Darren has taken part in a range of activities offered by the
project, and has moved forward with his life. He now attends
college and is part way through a course.
