About Lewis - Schools Liaison Worker
Lewis- Schools Liaison Worker for Colchester and Tendring
Hi, I'm Lewis I started working for
EYPDAS in September 2009 and I am the School Liaisons Worker for
Colchester and Tendring area. My job is to work with pupils
from Year 5 to Year 9 in all Colchester schools around drugs and
alcohol, and aiming to help with the transmission from primary to
secondary school.
I provide assessments; information and
work around drugs and alcohol to help the children and young people
in Colchester/Tendring live safely and confidently in their
communities.

The main parts of my work are to deliver drug and alcohol
sessions to pupils through assemblies, drop in sessions, displays,
one to one work and small group sessions. I want to help young
people to develop skills, knowledge and self-confidence so they can
make informed choices and respond to the issues that affect
them.
If schools have a concern about a young person then they can
refer them to me for support. The young person must consent to the
referral form being completed and must be made aware of what our
service is about and how we can help them. Once I receive a
referral I talk to the person who sent the form and the young
person concerned as to what will happen next. It could be that I do
some one to one or group work with the young person or we might all
agree for them to be passed through into one of the other EYPDAS
teams.
