Spice
Drug: Spice
Drug
type: Synthetic Cannabinoid
What are Cannabinoids?
What
is it? Spice is a synthetic cannabinoid, these are
usually sold in 'herbal' smoking mixtures. The plant material
has just been used to carry the synthetic drugs (it
is
spraye
d
on)
and does not normally contain any cannabis plant.
Are Synthetic Cannabinoids
legal?
Legal
status: A number of synthetic cannabinoids have been
classified as Class B. And are therefore illegal to have, sell or
give away. Possession of material containing controlled synthetic
cannabinoids can result in up to 5 years in prison and/or an
unlimited fine. Supplying them could lead to 14 years in prison and
an unlimited fine. How it can make you feel:
Synthetic cannabinoids mimic the
effects of THC and so the effects are likely to
be very similar to cannabis. Some
people will feel happy and relaxed, or
may get the giggles, feel hunger pangs and
become very talkative. Others may feel
ill or paranoid.
Synthetic Cannabinoids effects & risks
The risks: Cannabinoid effects vary because of the
way that chemicals work, its likely that the harmful effects of
synthetic cannabinoids like Spice, will be similar to
those of THC in Cannabis. But there may
also be risks from the plant material that is smoked too. It is
documented that regular use of synthetic cannabinoids may increase
the risk of developing psychotic problems such as
schizophrenia.
